			Chapter 12 begins where [[Groping in the Darkness (Chapter 11)\|Chapter 11]] left off with [[Maxwell]] asking [[Haiji Kino\|Haiji]] why he is hitting himself to which Haiji responds by saying that it's his trump card. The trump card is calling '''Overload''' and Haiji says don't underestimate it. Haiji after activating Overload can finally see Maxwell's light points in his body and hands a hit on Maxwell. Maxwell then finally remembers what pain feels like and says this is his first time being injured by human hands. Haiji asks Maxwell to stop this fight to which Maxwell says that Haiji is the only one who can save him (kill him). Haiji remembers that in the first time he met Maxwell, Maxwell was dealing with Suicidal Ideation, that's when thoughts about wanting to die/disappear start intruding in a person's mind, but Maxwell possessed a body so invicible that no matter how many times he tried to stab and shoot himself, he couldn't die. Maxwell says he is approximately 80 years old (before he stopped counting), and has no control over his body or age. The chapter ends with Haiji offering to help Maxwell.

	Chapter 10 starts off in Las Vegas, where [[Maxwell]] is seen gambling in the Las Vegas casino. A job offer by [[Kong Lian-Ya]] is brought to Maxwell, where he is to kill the '''Under Doctor''' in exchange for 2 million dollars. Maxwell says he will accept the job if Lian-Ya can double his money at the casino, which he does. Meanwhile, at the same time, in Japan, [[Haiji Kino\|Haiji]] arrives at Floor 44, a secret medical facility operated by the [[Oshimori Clan]]. Haiji is there to perform surgery on Tamasuke Ukita, a famous Kabuki actor. The facility has a lot of security but Maxwell infiltrates anyway. Maxwell manually climbs through 44 floors and is approached by [[Chiwako Oshimori\|Chiwako]]. The chapter ends with Maxwell attacking Haiji. 			Chapter 11 begins with [[Maxwell]] attacking [[Haiji Kino\|Haiji]] and asking him to die. Maxwell connects a high speed headbutt to Haiji, and [[Chiwako Oshimori\|Chiwa]] tries to shoot Maxwell, but Haiji stops her by saying it's useless. Haiji explains further by saying his body composition isn't normal and is capable of deflecting bullets. Maxwell says that his headbutts are capable of breaking through concrete and is suprised how Haiji withstood that high speed headbutt that he did. While continuing fighting, Haiji attempts to attack one of Maxwell's vital points and misses. Chiwa was thinking of calling backup, but a security guard stops her by saying the location of the floor is secret knowledge and no one should know about it. Chiwa then asks for a map of the secret floor, and gets it. Haiji keeps attempting to attack one of Maxwell's vital points but Maxwell says it's pointless. A flashback reveals that Haiji and Maxwell met before, and Maxwell asked Haiji to examine his body. Haiji remembers that Maxwell's body was unique and like nothing he ever saw before. Maxwell's bones were hard as iron, while possessing the flexibility of a bamboo. Haiji also says that while he normally sees lights on people's body he couldn't see none on Maxwells, and says that it is pitch black. Maxwell thinks about his past and reveals a group of doctors thought that he was a ray of hope for the human race, however they eventually betrayed him. Haiji and Maxwell continue fighting and Haiji lands a hit on Maxwell, and makes his breathing stop. He mimics the same attack Haiji did and hits him. Chiwa returns to the fight and brings a mirror to Haiji, which Maxwell is confused by. The chapter ends with Haiji hitting himself in the mirror.
