Groping in the Darkness is the eleventh chapter of the Under Doctor manga series, written and illustrated by Kyo Tanimoto. It was released on April 5, 2026.
Plot
Chapter 11 begins with Maxwell attacking Haiji and asking him to die. Maxwell connects a high speed headbutt to Haiji, and Chiwa tries to shoot Maxwell, but Haiji stops her by saying it's useless. Haiji explains further by saying his body composition isn't normal and is capable of deflecting bullets. Maxwell says that his headbutts are capable of breaking through concrete and is suprised how Haiji withstood that high speed headbutt that he did. While continuing fighting, Haiji attempts to attack one of Maxwell's vital points and misses. Chiwa was thinking of calling backup, but a security guard stops her by saying the location of the floor is secret knowledge and no one should know about it. Chiwa then asks for a map of the secret floor, and gets it. Haiji keeps attempting to attack one of Maxwell's vital points but Maxwell says it's pointless. A flashback reveals that Haiji and Maxwell met before, and Maxwell asked Haiji to examine his body. Haiji remembers that Maxwell's body was unique and like nothing he ever saw before. Maxwell's bones were hard as iron, while possessing the flexibility of a bamboo. Haiji also says that while he normally sees lights on people's body he couldn't see none on Maxwells, and says that it is pitch black. Maxwell thinks about his past and reveals a group of doctors thought that he was a ray of hope for the human race, however they eventually betrayed him. Haiji and Maxwell continue fighting and Haiji lands a hit on Maxwell, and makes his breathing stop. He mimics the same attack Haiji did and hits him. Chiwa returns to the fight and brings a mirror to Haiji, which Maxwell is confused by. The chapter ends with Haiji hitting himself in the mirror.
