A Normal Doctor is the second chapter of the Under Doctor manga series, written and illustrated by Kyo Tanimoto. It was released on February 1, 2026.
Summary
Haiji was dreaming about helping out on Dr. Ishiguro's operations, then a helicopter appears. Haiji then meets manager Chiwako Oshimori (known as Chiwa) in the Helicopter. Chiwa reveals that while the government successfully covered up the hijacking by framing Haiji as a talented detective, the massive cost of this cover up was deducted directly from Haiji’s bank account. Now bankrupt, Haiji is immediately assigned a new job to pay off the debt, traveling with Chiwa to a run-down Public Security safe house to treat a new patient. The patient is Jun Kikuta, an undercover investigator for Public Security Section 9, who was brutally tortured by the Great Crane Gang drug cartel while exposing their smuggling routes. Although Kikuta initially doubts Haiji’s abilities due to his young age and lack of equipment, Haiji uses his abilities to instantly diagnose the severity of Kikuta's induced incisions and blood loss. To further secure Kikuta's trust, Chiwa reveals her identity as a member of the Oshimori Clan, a legendary family of underground mediators active since ancient times. However, the chapter ends on a cliffhanger as the Great Crane Gang surrounds the apartment building, Kikuta realizing that there is no escape, Kikuta tells Haiji and Chiwa to flee and leave him behind to face his death.[1]
